FORTESIE is a European project that drives sustainable renovation in the construction sector, aligned with the European Commission's Renovation Wave. It offers companies the possibility to participate in innovative renovation packages, which combine state-of-the-art technologies, advanced digital solutions and smart financing models. CTIC is leading the pilot in Spain, developing blockchain architecture and energy certification services, which opens up opportunities for participating companies for innovation, strategic collaboration and positioning in a market in the midst of transformation.

The construction sector has an enormous impact on resource consumption: it accounts for 50% of the materials extracted, 30% of the water consumed, 40% of the energy used and 36% of the CO₂ emissions. Aware of this, the European Commission has promoted the Renovation Wave (Renovation Wave), whose objective is to double the rate of building renovation by 2030.

In this context, FORTESIE offers a strategic opportunity for companies in the sector to be at the forefront of sustainable transformation. The project aims to design, validate and replicate innovative renovation packages, which integrate smart, performance-based materials, technologies and financing models. These packages combine:

  • State-of-the-art materials and technologies: pre-fabricated facades, BIPV (building integrated photovoltaic systems), heat pumps and more.
  • Advanced digital tools to measure and verify energy performance improvements.
  • Attractive and secure financing models: contracts with performance guarantees, innovative financing mechanisms and solutions such as digital green euros (€G).

Within FORTESIE, CTIC is leading the development of a blockchain-based architecture and an energy efficiency assessment and certification service. It is also coordinating the pilot in Spain, in collaboration with key entities in the construction and energy sectors. This pilot is part of the 7 European demonstrators that will evaluate technological efficiency and validate new business models in real environments.

Participating in FORTESIE gives companies a clear competitive advantage: access to cutting-edge solutions, strategic alliances and the possibility of positioning themselves as leading players in the sustainable and digital renovation of the European building stock.
