HOLA

The HOLA project (Tool for Vocational Guidance in Asturias) is a space on the net that provides life-long professional and vocational guidance systems and services. This project is promoted by the Directorate General of Vocational Training of the Education and Science Regional Ministry.

Description:

The current labor market demands a constant qualification of workers, a continuous updating of their skills and new labor competences. Training and particularly professional and vocational guidance are now taking a different dimension from the one they traditionally have had, thus redefining their time range. 

Therefore, we need to incorporate systems and/or services of professional and vocational guidance, also lifelong ones, that go beyond the life cycle in which vocational guidance has been focused in the past, and are extended to workers with previous experience and to employed workers.

Target groups:

Lifelong Guidance can provide a significant support to:

• Persons in their transition throughout the different levels of the educational system and from school to adult and professional life. 
• Young people that have left the educational system and wish to continue with their training. 
• Persons that are re-integrating the labor market after unemployment periods. 
• Workers that have to adapt their skills to the new requirements.

Main goal:

• Profession description units: description sheets about the main features of a great part of the existing professions, including information about training options, job vacancies and more than 100 testimonies of people talking about their own experience. 
• Thematic sets: Professions and activity sectors, news, documents, reference pages, videos, interviews, etc. 
• Vocational guidance: Multimedia guide that contains images, texts, graphics and spoken text to access useful and necessary information for job seeking: self-analysis, CV (résumé), presentation letter, interview, etc. 
• Job seeking trough the Internet: Guide that explains the characteristics of the job included in the net, with classified and commented information, providing examples and specific addresses. 
• E-Guidance: Section aimed to vocational guidance professionals.   
• Labor culture: Multimedia guide to understand concepts of special interest for the labor market: contracts, salaries, human resources policies, productivity, company internal communication, collective bargaining, etc. 
• ICT in the work place: Set of videos and short workshops that include friendly and easy explanations about ICT use and its daily application to our labor task. 
• Reconciling family, private and professional life: Nowadays, this is a key matter and affects the society as a whole: women and men, working population and dependent people, companies, workers and governments. This section tries to present the different reconciling experiences and good practices. 
• Entrepreneurship culture: Space aimed at offering useful information to those persons interested in starting up their own business activity. 
• HOLA TV: Set of videos and applications that provide guidance to find professions and activity sectors based on the experience of several professionals.
• ADO (Occupations and Professions Classroom): Tales, comics and interactive games that provide information to the youngest people about professions and necessary skills for a given profession.
