The Principality of Asturias government, as promoter, and CTIC Foundation, as managing organization for the Telecenters Net of Asturias, have committed themselves to make for the lack of documents and publications relating to telecenters nets. The story of the telecenters in Spain was still to be told, so we have done it: which are they, how do they work, whom do they provide services to, who are the professionals working in them, what role do these centers have for the Information Society. The report has been prepared by Karma Peiró.

This book explains how the Internet was born and its later development (original aims, standardization, protocols, elements that contributed to its dissemination, emergence of other nets). Which is the true origin of the Internet? Why do we use the symbol @? Is it true that Europe could have lead the technological development of the Web?
