HOW DATA IS CHANGING THE WORLD

The first Open Data and Open Data portal was published in 2008. Since then, a large range of public and private organisations have them.
Only in Spain, the total turnover derived from open data is estimated at 1,720 million euros per year.
Within this paradigm we refer to data that is freely accessible for everyone and the applications based on them reach all sectors. Open Data enables transparency of governments and may leverage businesses that are based on the reuse of public information.
CTIC Technology Centre has participated in the main Open Data initiatives in Spain, also developing projects in this field for the European Commission. (EPSIPlatform and SharePSI)
We work on standardisation processes through the development of standards, techniques and specifications for data publication allowing interoperability among systems. In order to achieve this, we use W3C technologies..

OPEN GOVERNMENT, TRANSPARENCY, CITIZEN PARTICIPATION

The publication of the information that is collected by certain entities must comply with the technical requirements established by the Transparency Act. Publication also characterises the open data foundations: accessibility, readability, data quality, interoperability and reuse capabilities.
CTIC promotes this foundations with innovative proposals, both in the development of strategies and plans, and with the implementation of specific actions.
To enable the compliance with the Law, CTIC has developed a specific standard-based platform, PETRAS that makes transparency a reality for organisations.
