The program was part of the National Connected Industry 4.0 Strategy, promoted by the Secretary General for Industry and Small and Medium-Sized Enterprises (SGIPYME) of the Ministry of Industry, Trade and Tourism, in collaboration with the Escuela de Organización Industrial (EOI) and the autonomous communities. Its goal was to support Spanish industry and to increase industrial added value and skilled employment in the sector. In its first editions the program admitted both SMEs and large companies, later focusing predominantly on industrial SMEs.
The advisory service, provided by accredited organizations with experience implementing Industry 4.0 projects, followed the methodology developed by SGIPYME and was structured in three stages:
- Assessment of the company's starting point in terms of digital maturity.
- Development of the Digital Transformation Plan, identifying, quantifying, and prioritizing digitalization opportunities.
- A closing group workshop, complemented by demonstration workshops on enabling technologies.
CTIC took part in every edition of the program as an organization accredited by the EOI to provide specialized advice on Industry 4.0, technological innovation, and digital transformation, and was one of the 45 organizations accredited nationwide in its final call. Its contribution consisted of accompanying companies through all phases of the program, from the submission of the application to the completion of the service, and of providing a team of consultants with more than fifteen years of experience advising companies in all sectors on digitalization and Industry 4.0. CTIC also brought its own methodology and tools for assessing the degree of digital maturity, which complemented and added value to the program's method.
