In industrial process plants, the information generated by monitoring, control, and data acquisition systems does not always reach the people who have to make decisions at the right time and place. AF4 addressed this need by bringing that information to the operator at the moment and place where it is needed.
The project's objectives were to:
- Facilitate on-site, real-time decision-making in industrial process plants.
- Develop artificial intelligence algorithms applied to interactive mobile devices.
- Complement the monitoring, control, and data acquisition systems already in place in the plants.
AF4 was structured around the following areas:
- Augmented reality: contextualized visualization of plant information over the operator's real environment.
- Artificial intelligence: algorithms to support decision-making based on process data.
- Devices for industrial environments: interactive mobile devices adapted to workstations with limited manual handling.
Felguera Tecnologías de la Información coordinated the project, with the participation of Magtel Operaciones and iCube Ingeniería, Internacionalización e Innovación, and with the collaboration of CTIC, which contributed its expertise in augmented reality and artificial intelligence.
