ARSHAPE studied the feasibility of using low-cost augmented reality technologies to replace physical template systems in the assembly processes of the elevator manufacturing industry, in order to optimize the assembly of components on the production line.

The use of physical templates in component assembly entails costs and risks on the production line. The project met the need to explore digital alternatives that would reduce their use.

The objectives of the project were:

  • To study the feasibility of low-cost augmented reality projection systems as an alternative to physical templates.
  • To optimize component assembly on the elevator production line.
  • To reduce the use of physical templates and the associated costs and risks.

ThyssenKrupp Norte had the collaboration of CTIC, which contributed its experience in augmented reality and vision technologies.
