The project responded to the need to move beyond traditional audience measurement methods, which are increasingly less valid given the growth in audiovisual content consumption on the internet, mobile phones, and other portable devices. Audiometriza proposed a non-intrusive system, built as a kind of middleware, that does not need to alter current audiovisual content systems or users' habits in order to work.
The system was built around three main features:
- Non-intrusive solution: it works as middleware that does not require altering existing audiovisual content systems or users' behavior patterns.
- Cloud processing: the information captured through wearable devices is sent to a server for analysis, avoiding overloading the devices themselves.
- Intelligent audio and image processing: the sensors in the augmented reality glasses, beyond the camera and microphone (accelerometers, gyroscopes), make it possible to obtain additional information about the source of the content being consumed and the user's level of attention.
Audiometriza made it possible to overcome the shortcomings of traditional measurement methods in the face of new consumption habits, such as multiscreening, through an open and flexible system capable of identifying content by both audio and image.
CTIC developed Audiometriza in collaboration with Cristaliza, under the Retos-Colaboración program of the Ministry of Economy and Competitiveness, applying its experience in cloud processing and data capture using augmented reality devices.
