CETIKA's purpose was to offer an "active listening" system on the internet applicable to various purposes related to knowledge acquisition and management, such as competitive and technology watch, the detection of tenders and public procurement processes, the selection of information for portals, social networks, and newsletters, the implementation of observatories, or the management and enrichment of an organization's internal knowledge.
The project's objectives were:
- To automate the mass capture of useful information available on the internet.
- To recognize and interpret the gathered content using semantic and natural language processing technologies, making it easier to extract the knowledge sought.
- To facilitate the collaborative analysis of information through a text and multimedia editing interface, with commenting, voting, and alert features.
- To enable the interoperability and reuse of the extracted knowledge in other systems (websites, blogs, business applications) under open data criteria.
- To offer the tool as a turnkey application or as cloud services, making it easier to deploy in different types of organizations.
The core areas of CETIKA were:
- Information capture: automatic, mass gathering of content available on the internet, including unstructured information.
- Semantic analysis and classification: smart tagging and classification of content using semantic and natural language processing technologies, with an integrated search engine for faceted search and spell checking.
- Collaborative analysis and dissemination: commenting, voting, and alert tools for the collaborative enrichment of knowledge, as well as its distribution through newsletters or integration with other systems.
CTIC developed CETIKA with its own funds and marketed it, directly or through agreements with commercial partners, to organizations and companies in Spain and other countries, including Alegría Activity (Ecuador), CPA Ferrere (Uruguay, Chile, Peru, and Paraguay), Futuver (Mexico and Panama), the Red de Mediatecas de Angola, and Primordial Saber (Portugal).
