CONECTA drove the creation of a Central American Network of Technology Advisory Centers for Economic Development (CATDE), which engaged with SMEs and the general public to act as a catalyst for change, continuing the pilot project carried out in Honduras between 2008 and 2009.

The project built on the experience of the pilot "CATDE Honduras: Technology Support Centers for Business Development" to extend the model to a Central American network.

The project's objectives were to:

  • Analyze the local territory and design strategies for reaching out to SMEs.
  • Raise awareness among, train, and advise SMEs in the region.
  • Coordinate and oversee the transfer of the CATDE model and its rollout in each country.
  • Create a cooperation network among the CATDEs, with joint management, coordination, and evaluation of their activities.
  • Embed the transfer and sustainability of the model in national and regional policies.

CTIC carried out the project with funding from the Spanish Agency for International Development Cooperation (AECID).
