CTIC-DATAHUB was the project to acquire and install a unique Shared Data Space infrastructure, aligned with the concept defined by the European Commission in its Common European Data Spaces initiative and in the European Data Strategy. Its deployment gave CTIC a very high-performance "turnkey" solution for data storage, computing, and processing, and it is the foundation on which the DataHub infrastructure operates today.

The project was part of the Asturias Program 2021-2023, with the aim of providing CTIC with a reference infrastructure in the emerging field of Shared Data Spaces, at both the European and international levels.

The objectives of the project were:

  • To acquire and deploy a very high-performance server configuration for high-performance storage, computing, and processing.
  • To combine CPU and GPU computing technologies with high-speed interconnects, on a modular and scalable architecture.
  • To stimulate the development of cutting-edge R&D projects aligned with the Shared Data Spaces initiative, which can be exploited both internally and in collaboration with local, national, and international organizations.

CTIC carried out the project in its entirety, defining the technical requirements of the infrastructure and handling its acquisition and installation as a functional unit. DataHub, CTIC's shared data space for storing, processing, and accessing large volumes of data, now operates on this infrastructure and supports projects such as MODERATE and GAIA-X.
