EEpV: Energy efficiency analysis of housing in the Principality of Asturias

The project studied homes spread across three buildings, with the aim of basing energy retrofit decisions on real data rather than relying solely on theoretical estimates.

The objectives of the project were:

• Analyze the energy efficiency of the homes and their actual living conditions.
• Identify opportunities for action that would reduce the energy demand of the residential stock under study.
• Validate different energy optimization scenarios before undertaking the intervention.

The areas around which EEpV was structured were:

• IoT monitoring: design of a sensor system that collected data on energy consumption and indoor living conditions in the homes, along with outdoor weather conditions, visualized in real time through a cloud platform.
• Dynamic modeling: development of a simulation model of the homes that used as input variables the real environmental conditions collected by the sensor network, and on which different scenarios aimed at energy optimization were validated.

CTIC developed EEpV, applying its experience in sensing, data technologies, and simulation to the energy analysis of the public residential stock, in order to guide more efficient interventions that are better suited to the real behavior of the buildings.
