EMOPLAY developed a technological solution for learning and modulating emotions aimed at people with autism spectrum disorder (ASD), in which the device's screen acts as a mirror and an algorithm recognizes the imitated emotion in real time, providing positive reinforcement when it is correct.

People with ASD often have difficulty recognizing and expressing emotions, a key skill for social interaction.

The solution worked as follows:

  • Imitation: the user imitates the emotion suggested by the application.
  • Digital mirror: the camera captures the user's image and displays it on the device's screen, which becomes a mirror.
  • Recognition and reinforcement: while the image is displayed, it is processed in real time by an automatic emotion recognition algorithm, which provides positive reinforcement when the imitated emotion is correct.

CTIC developed the project with the support of the Fundación Orange.
