The HABITAT-VR project brought virtual reality to the real estate sector, incorporating this technology into the design processes of future developments. The solution allowed customers to view their home before it was built, through an immersive experience generated from the project's 3D models.

HABITAT-VR addressed the real estate sector's need to show customers homes that still exist only on paper, bringing virtual reality to the construction industry, a field with little penetration of these technologies.

The objectives of the project were:

  • Incorporate virtual reality into the design processes of real estate developments.
  • Allow customers to view their future home through an immersive experience before it is built.
  • Reduce the development time of virtual environments without compromising the quality of the experience.

The areas around which HABITAT-VR was structured were:

  • Virtual reality framework: development of a framework that, starting from the 3D models of the homes, made it possible to quickly generate very high-quality virtual reality environments.
  • Immersive experience: a virtual walkthrough of the home that maintained the highest level of experience for the user.

Constructora Los Álamos relied on CTIC, which contributed its experience in virtual reality and 3D modeling to the development of the framework and the immersive experience.
