I-CORE (I): Innovation in the control of calf rearing

This phase responded to the call for grants for the creation of operational groups under the European Innovation Partnership (EIP), within the Asturias Rural Development Program 2014-2020 (sub-measure M16.1), whose mandatory outcome was the establishment of the group and the submission of the report on the innovation project to be carried out in a later implementation phase.

During this phase, work was carried out on:

• The formal establishment of the I-CORE Operational Group and the definition of each member's contribution according to their knowledge and skills.
• The design of a comprehensive plan for optimizing and innovating the management protocols for suckling calves, from the farm of origin to a specialized rearing center.
• The identification of the scientific, socioeconomic, environmental, and technological aspects that determine the proper development of suckling calves.
• The drafting of the descriptive report of the innovation project, which for the first time considered the production cycle as a set of interconnected actions, monitored through sensors and intelligent data analysis.

CTIC's participation focused on contributing its knowledge as a research and technology organization to the design of the sensing and data analysis solution that the operational group would develop in the project's implementation phase, within a group that also included the Campoastur and Corvera cooperatives, with the collaboration of the Asociación de Defensa Ganadera de Valdés.
