IDEsec developed a signal processing algorithm capable of predicting and anticipating critical situations in industrial boilermaking and metalworking operations, specifically in confined spaces during the construction of large pressure equipment. The solution brought intelligence to the analysis of motion sensor data in order to characterize the behavior patterns of operators working inside this equipment.

The project addressed the importance of safety in the day-to-day performance of the boilermaking and metalworking industry, where working in confined spaces inside large pressure equipment poses specific risks that are difficult to monitor by conventional means.

The objectives of the project were:

  • Develop a signal processing algorithm for the analysis of data from motion sensors.
  • Characterize the behavior patterns of operators working inside pressure equipment.
  • Predict and anticipate critical situations during operations in confined spaces.

The areas around which IDEsec was structured were:

  • Data capture: deployment of motion sensors in the operators' work environment.
  • Intelligent signal processing: algorithms capable of interpreting the captured data and extracting the behavior patterns associated with activity in confined spaces.
  • Anticipation of risk situations: early identification of conditions that could lead to a critical situation.

IDESA relied on CTIC, which contributed its experience and capabilities in sensor technologies, intelligent data analysis, and signal processing.
