The aim of the project was to contribute to better formulation and implementation of sectoral initiatives and projects to promote Industry 4.0, aligning them with similar initiatives developed at the national and international level and adapting them to the needs of the business fabric of Castilla y León. It targeted the agri-food and the transport and capital goods sectoral axes.
In a first phase, information was gathered through extensive fieldwork, with the aim of learning the degree of digital transformation of companies, exploring in depth the expectations, difficulties, and challenges posed by the Industry 4.0 paradigm, collecting digitization experiences and good practices, and identifying the existing enablers in the autonomous community.
The actions carried out in this first phase included:
- Industry 4.0 diagnoses of anchor and significant companies in each sectoral axis, to assess the degree of digitization of their critical processes in relation to the Industry 4.0 enablers.
- Interviews with significant players in the regional ecosystem (clusters, technology centers, digital innovation hubs, university research groups, and other entities).
- An online questionnaire sent en masse to companies to collect information on Industry 4.0.
- A focus group specific to each sectoral axis.
- The development of an inventory catalog of digitization good practices by sectoral axis, and a catalog of Industry 4.0 enablers.
- The definition of competencies and professional profiles for Industry 4.0.
In a second phase, all the information gathered was analyzed to produce a situation study and two digitization plans for Industry 4.0, tailored to each of the reference sectoral axes.
