Inmersidra is an immersive cyber-physical experience developed entirely by CTIC that combines innovation and tradition. A virtual reality environment lets users pour a "digital" culín of Asturian cider in a virtual cider house, connected to a physical device that reproduces in real time, on a real bottle, the result of the virtual pour.

Inmersidra was created to explore the potential of virtual reality as an interface for controlling real-world devices and equipment, taking as its application case a tradition unique to Asturias: pouring cider.

The objectives of the project are:

  • To develop a virtual reality experience that faithfully reproduces the gesture of pouring cider.
  • To connect the virtual environment to a physical device capable of reproducing in real time the result of the virtual action.
  • To demonstrate the potential of virtual reality as an interface for controlling physical equipment.

The areas on which Inmersidra is built are:

  • Cyber-physical experience: a connection between the virtual reality environment and a physical device attached to a bottle, which immediately brings the culín generated in the digital world into the real world.
  • Gamification: a score calculated from the height of the bottle and the point on the glass where the cider hits, with a ranking that lets each participant compare themselves with those who have already played.
  • Technology demonstrator: Inmersidra works as a "serious game" that illustrates in a tangible way the possibilities of virtual reality applied to controlling physical devices.

CTIC develops Inmersidra as its own initiative, drawing on its experience in virtual reality, cyber-physical systems, and gamification to give technological value to an Asturian cultural tradition.
