MAGWATER developed a system to improve, in terms of costs and results, the production processes for assembling and certifying water meters, applying the lean manufacturing paradigm through the intensive use of data capture and analysis technologies to support decision-making.

The project met the need to optimize a water meter production line based on reliable, real-time data on its operation.

The areas around which MAGWATER was structured were:

  • Data capture and analysis: technologies for acquiring and analyzing production process data to support decision-making.
  • Lean manufacturing: application of lean manufacturing principles to improve the assembly and certification processes.
  • Open standards-based architecture: an open architectural model, based on the standards defined by the W3C Web of Things working group, to ensure the interoperability, flexibility, adaptability, and extensibility of the solution.

Magtel had the collaboration of CTIC, which contributed its experience in data capture and analysis and in Web of Things standards.
