The project responded to the need to boost the contribution of Nicaraguan MSMEs to national output, particularly in relation to exportable and potentially exportable products.
The project's objectives were:
- To promote innovation by strengthening cooperation among the public, private, and academic sectors, through a collaboration system and a technology information service.
- To strengthen the ICT industry in Nicaragua and connect it with the demand of industrial companies.
The project was structured around the following areas:
- Collaboration system: development and launch of a collaboration system among technology service centers, research centers, universities, and industrial companies.
- Technology information: development and launch of a public-private technology information service, together with the promotion and dissemination of industrial innovation.
- Boosting the ICT industry: awareness-raising and demand promotion, dissemination of knowledge about the Nicaraguan ICT industry, and definition of a strategy to support the sector.
CTIC carried out the project for the Ministry of Development, Industry and Trade of the Government of Nicaragua, under the European Commission's EuropeAid program.
