RQ MAPP: Artificial intelligence tool for identifying hazardous chemical agents in cosmetic products in the hairdressing sector
Inteligencia Artificial
Generación y adquisición de datos
RQ MAPP was a tool, developed by CTIC for the Instituto Asturiano de Prevención de Riesgos Laborales (IAPRL), for identifying hazardous chemical agents (HCAs) in cosmetic products (CPs), which incorporated artificial intelligence.
The application made it possible to query the compounds present in cosmetics used in workplaces in the hairdressing sector and other beauty treatments. For each compound, the tool indicated its name, its CAS number, whether or not it appears in Annexes II and III of Regulation (EC) 1223/2009 on cosmetic products, whether it has an occupational exposure limit value (OEL), whether it is an aromatic amine, an endocrine disruptor or a fragrance allergen, and the hazard statements (H phrases) that applied to it under the CLP Regulation, in addition to remarks and warnings set out in Regulation 1223/2009 itself and in opinions of the scientific committees of the European Commission (SCCS, SCCP, SCCNFP).
The database on which the tool relied came from the project "Chemical Risk Map in Asturias: Hairdressing sector and other beauty treatments", carried out by the IAPRL between 2014 and 2016. It was designed especially for occupational risk prevention technical staff, industrial hygienists and medical staff, epidemiologists and occupational insurance mutuals, as well as for business owners and consumers interested in the chemical safety of the compounds they used.
