SEMANTIKA: Unified semantic format for automating technology watch and competitive intelligence processes

Technology watch is a systematic process for locating, storing, analyzing, disseminating and making the most of information relevant to an organization. Around this definition arise numerous concepts common to practically all the platforms and tools that implement competitive intelligence or technology watch systems: data sources, application areas, critical factors, analyzed content and even the workflow that the information itself follows.
Although these concepts can be represented individually using standardized formats and structures, and the watch process itself has been "standardized" by various bodies and institutions, SEMANTIKA proposed unifying in a single semantic format all the entities and data structures that make up the conceptual backbone of technology watch, so that this format would also support the process itself.
Based on that format, the project also developed two semantic services related to enriching and capturing information in a watch system. The general objectives of the project included standardizing the solution regardless of vendor or methodology, enriching the captured information, automating the discovery of information sources, interoperability, independence from third-party services and extensibility of the solution.
