SISTEM-EP: Low-cost telemedicine system for the diagnosis of lung diseases

The project responded to the difficulty of accessing specialized health services faced by people living in remote rural areas, as well as by those who work in environments with a risk of lung disease, such as mines, plantations, or oil fields.

The project's objectives were:

• Design a telemedicine system specifically for the early diagnosis of lung diseases.
• Adapt the system to two user profiles: the remote rural population and workers deployed to high-risk environments.
• Integrate digital medical devices to collect patient data.

The project was structured around the following areas:

• Selection of medical devices: choice of suitable digital devices for data collection.
• Integrated data model: design of the data model and the corresponding integration system.

Felguera Tecnologías de la Información coordinated the project, with the collaboration of CTIC, Tesis Medical Solutions (Spain), and Computer Shop Online (Peru).
