UROMAP laid the foundations of a new after-sales technical service system that makes it possible to remotely obtain information on the real condition of broken-down vehicles in order to diagnose them, reducing the number of trips to their location.

Technical service for vehicles operating anywhere in the world often requires costly trips to diagnose faults. The project met the need to have this information remotely and in real time.

The areas around which UROMAP was structured were:

  • Onboard device: a modular unit that captures the variables most relevant to vehicle maintenance from its control unit, adaptable to each of the manufacturer's projects.
  • Global communications network: opportunistic communication over any commercial network available in the vehicle's operating environment, whether WiFi, GSM, LoRa, Sigfox, or UHF, among others.
  • IoT platform: centralization, processing, management, and storage of the data received in real time from all vehicles, ensuring their security and consistency, with one-way communications to the cloud and encrypted channels to minimize the attack surface.

CTIC developed the system for UROMAC, applying its experience in the Internet of Things and communications.
