CTIC promotes a new territorial intelligence model with a pilot village

Experts from different sectors outline in the RuralTech of Peón the implementation in a village of Asturias of an innovative type of locally based cooperative that assumes the integral management of the environment.

The challenge is not a minor one. In addition to its research and development of technology for the rural environment, CTIC RuralTech also aspires to become a center of "thought and action for the new ruralities". And in these times of empty villages, of bankruptcy of traditional rural activities, this center located in Peón (Villaviciosa) is looking for nothing less than a new economically and ecologically sustainable model that revitalizes the rural environment, that recharges the battery of the villages with that rural energy that molded, preserved and filled with biodiversity all the surrounding territory. A new territorial organization that replaces the traditional one and that would go through the creation of an innovative type of professional cooperative that assumes the integral management of the territory, as a "farmhouse of farmhouses". It is a proposal that aspires to land in a specific place, in a village, in a specific Asturian valley, in a "pilot village" that will then serve to light the way for the others.

For this reason, the CTIC RuralTech brought together a group of experts of all kinds (technological, economic, agro-livestock, statistical and development and land management) to propose, discuss and specify what, how, when and where this alternative to the highly flammable green desert that 80% of the Asturian territory is becoming can be made a reality.
