Common European Agricultural Data Space (CEADS)

CEADS establishes a secure, trusted, and interoperable environment for data sharing across Europe’s agri-food sector, driving economic, environmental, and societal improvements while upholding ethical standards. It demonstrates real-world impact through eight practical use cases that address genuine challenges—from farm performance monitoring to supply chain transparency. CEADS is developing the technical backbone that enables seamless cross-border data exchange and building governance frameworks that ensure fairness, trust, and data sovereignty. At its core, CEADS fosters a collaborative, EU-wide ecosystem of farmers, businesses, researchers, and innovators shaping the future of European agriculture.

CTIC plays a key role in the implementation and consolidation of the Common European Agricultural Data Space (CEADS), leading the development of the project's governance model. This responsibility involves defining the organizational structures, decision-making processes and standards that ensure responsible, ethical and secure data management.
On the technological side, CTIC's experience in data spaces is applied to the technical infrastructure of CEADS with a clear focus on practical applicability, one of the distinguishing features of Digital Europe Programme projects.

We participate in defining the ethical, legal and social aspects of the project applied to both the design and operation of CEADS so that they strictly comply with the principles established in the Data Governance Act, the Data Act and other relevant European regulatory frameworks.

Other contributions by CTIC involve promoting the reuse of high-value datasets (HVDs). CTIC works to ensure the accessibility and compatibility of these datasets within the CEADS ecosystem, in line with the provisions of the Open Data Directive and the priorities of the European Data Strategy.

Finally, as part of the CTIC Ruraltech initiative, the organisation is actively involved in the development of two use cases for the project that will validate and demonstrate the real impact of CEADS, contributing to the advancement of digitalisation and sustainability in European agriculture.
