Data Spaces

Data spaces are a key element of the European Data Strategy as a driver of the region's economy through the creation of a single European data market of a sectoral nature (Health, Tourism, Industry, Agriculture, Mobility... .)
These spaces are an ecosystem in which various public and private actors share data and services under a common governance model. Among its characteristics we find:
  • They enable data sovereignty, that is, each participant has control over the data they publish to determine what is done with them.
  • They are supported by a decentralized and federated infrastructure of cloud services based on functional, technical, operational, legal and economic agreements,
  • It puts a game on a data governance model with clear and non-discriminatory rules applying the European principles of self-determination, privacy, transparency, security and fair competition.
  • The availability and quality of data is an essential element in order to achieve the data economy.
