The Web of Things (WoT) is a set of specifications that seek to leverage the architectural patterns and technologies of the Web to address the problem of interoperability in the Internet of Things (IoT). The IoT is characterized by a wide variety of protocols and technologies, both proprietary and open, which increases the risk of formation of data silos and long-term maintenance issues. Given that the Web is one of the best known and documented technology domains, WoT represents one of the most promising opportunities to effectively address the challenge of interoperability in the IoT, enabling devices from different manufacturers to "talk" to each other in a standardized way.
